ME ME ME ME ALL ABOUT ME
Would you buy a car from this man?
Kingfisher Bluez is a small-time DIY indie record label based in Vancouver, B.C.
Established in 2008 as a music blog (that was still a thing back then), KFB has been pressing vinyl since 2011. We specialize in releasing small-run records by artists that share a like-minded experimental approach to making weird, warm, music. We are also the promoters of fine indie nights and some other pretty fun stuff.
My name is Tim (or Tim The Mute) and I play music and do paperwork. Kingfisher Bluez is sort of my thing but I couldn’t even get out of bed in the morning without the help of my friends. Ryan actually physically lifts me out of bed as well, so further kudos to him!
Thank you for your interest, I will try to make your ears, eyes, and heart happy.
All demos, enquiries, suggestions, and complaints can be stuffed into a bottle and thrown out to kingfisherbluez (at) gmail.com
Write to me! It is easy to get ahold of me due to UNPOPULARITY.

F.A.Q.
I ended up on this page by accident, what should I do?
Welcome! buy all our records. They are real pieces of vinyl that you can hold in your hands. I have numbered every single one of them myself. They all smell like me.
I work at a record store / distro, where can I buy these things at wholesale?
Kingfisher Bluez is distributed worldwide by Revolver/Midheaven. We are also carried by RPM in Canada, Carrot Top Ltd. (USA), Jigsaw Records (USA) and via Rough Trade (UK) If your store doesn’t deal with any of these, hit me up and I’ll sort you out.
Who does the design for your records?
Ryan Dyck does all the design. You can hire him I don’t mind. http://discounttypography.tumblr.com/
What is Dirty Beaches like in person? What’s he doing now?
Oh I’ve just put out one single for him I don’t really know him! I’ve met him once though and he is really nice! I think he just plays the sax now.
Why is your singles club so far behind?
Part of it is the plants are backed up, partly it’s the bands sending masters in late. The rest is my fault.
Will you show Jamie Stewart this tattoo I have of his face?
That’s so funny- he has the same tattoo!
Why don’t you sell mp3s/flac/cassettes?
We do now! Well, not cassettes thankfully. All of our releases that we are allowed to sell digitally are available via iTunes/Amazon/eMusic/Spotify/Last.fm/Rhapsody/etc. You can always make tapes off our bandcamp page if you hook your tape player up to your computer’s headphone jack.
Will you sign my cool band?
***2016 update*** I’m sort of done right now with putting out records for people I don’t know in real life… I like to get a sense of what you’re like as a person, so I know I won’t have to have some weird drawn-out email argument with you later on. This is way better for both of us. Come through Vancouver and say hi to me.
Yes your advance is a vegan pizza with most of the toppings picked off. Sorry but I do get more demos than I can handle (not much) so please allow me some time to respond, and apologies if my email is quite short (and please for the love of Moz stop sending attachments!). KFB releases mainly indiepop and punk rock music and it’s very depressing to spend hours of my Sunday responding to bands who have just googled “all record labels” and sent the same form email out 2000 times without any thought or care for the unfortunate recipient- and by the way, I can’t take much more depression! Anyway, it is actually pretty easy to start your own label.
Will Village deliver my triplets?
Two of them.
What happened to chillwave?
I am serious all those records are gonna be collectable in 10 or 20 years! Hold onto ’em. Feel it all around.
Why live?
Look, if you need a friend and you have at least the social skills to have an ordinary email conversation, I encourage you to write to me. If you send me a tape, I’ll make you a mix. If you write me a letter I will write you back.
In the times when indie music isn’t enough, you can always pick up a phone.
